I chose to photograph a person (Athena) to match the photo I chose for this assignment. She has a tranquil look about her, and she is looking out the window. Her expression is sort of hopeful yet calm. This picture was protrayed in black and white to give the photo a softer tone. The image isnt blurred, it was focused intentionally to show detail of the background, her shirt, and her face. I think the photographer, Aline Smithson, chose to make the picture light so you can see the texture in the clothing and also the shadow of the curtain. The photo of the girl was taken indoors next to a window, but I photographed Athena in front of a gray background. I also used natural lighting from outside in this photo. I think the photo is successful because I picked a photographer and style I had an interest in, and I copied her style well.
